The EOS Network has completed its Spring 1.0 hard fork and launched the exSat mainnet, marking significant milestones in its development. Key updates were discussed during the October Block Producer meeting.

The EOS Network has marked a significant milestone with the successful completion of its Spring 1.0 hard fork, followed by the launch of the exSat mainnet. These developments were the focal points of the recent monthly EOS Block Producer (BP) meeting, attended by prominent network participants, including the EOS Network Foundation (ENF), EOS Labs, and Middleware, according to eosnetwork.com.

Meeting Highlights and Key Discussions

Held on October 16, 2024, the meeting saw participation from 19 Block Producers and 30 attendees in total. Beatrice Wang, Communications Manager for ENF, initiated the meeting, outlining the agenda that included discussions on the hard fork, UTXO synchronization, and the exSat mainnet launch.

Spring 1.0 Hard Fork Achievement

Yves La Rose, CEO of ENF, highlighted the Spring 1.0 hard fork as a crucial upgrade, featuring the new Savanna consensus algorithm. The transition was completed in under 40 minutes, and despite the network facing its heaviest load yet, it maintained stability. The exSat team managed to synchronize 840,000 Bitcoin blocks of UTXO data into RAM within 48 hours, serving as a rigorous test for the network’s new infrastructure.

Launch of exSat Mainnet

The exSat mainnet has successfully launched, synchronizing Bitcoin blocks at a controlled rate. With the initial phase underway, the focus is on increasing the connected Bitcoin hashrate significantly. This launch aims to enhance the network’s capacity and performance.

Greymass Middleware Integration

Aaron Cox from Greymass provided updates on their Metamask integration efforts, which will facilitate managing EOS, EVM, and exSat accounts. The integration audit was completed, and the team is working with Consensys to publish an EOS wallet Snap for Metamask.

Future Developments

Looking ahead, Yves La Rose discussed the Spring 2.0 roadmap, which includes RAM optimizations and the development of a decentralized wallet. Additionally, discussions are ongoing regarding a potential EOS rebrand, with further updates expected in future meetings.
